Garment sampling is one of the major tasks of a merchandiser. S/He has to develop different kinds of samples at different stages with different requirements to be approved by the buyers. Buyers’ approval of each sample allows proceeding to successive processes. Developing and taking approval from buyers to move on is termed as garment sampling process. Though sample requirements vary from buyer to buyer, the samples mentioned below are more or less the same for all the buyers.

Development sample (all available materials)- mainly for styling check

Sent for Buyer approval ↦ If rejected/got revision ⤐ Development sample again

If approved
         ↓
Proto sample (all available materials)
         ↓
Fit sample ↦ If rejected/got revision ⤐ Proto sample again – mainly for measurement check
         ↓
If approved
         ↓
PP-Sample (1size or sample size and all actual materials)

Size set sample (all size or jump sizes and all actual materials)
         ↓
Ad/Photoshoot sample (all actual materials)
         ↓
Salesman sample/SMS sample (all actual materials)
         ↓
Garment Performance Test/GPT sample (all actual materials)

Top of Production/TOP sample (all actual materials)
